The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme is a programme of practical, cultural and adventurous activities designed for the development of young people. Challenge is the essence of the concept. The Award Scheme presents a balanced non-competitive programme of voluntary activities which encourages responsibility, self-reliance, personal discovery and perseverance.
