Fayrer Housemaster Stuart Head with students
Named in honour of Sir Joseph Fayrer, a leading doctor and reformer at the start of the last century, Fayrer House is the largest in the College. Originally established in the Newsom Building, the House moved 40 years ago to what was then the school sanatorium, which explains its remote location away from the main school buildings. Fayrer was totally refurbished in July 2009 and in addition to a wide range of multimedia facilities, now boasts a cinema room.
Stuart Head took over as Housemaster in September 2008. He lives in the House with his wife Phillippa and three children. Stuart teaches Business Management within the Business Studies and Economics Department and coaches the boys' and girls' 1st XI hockey teams and boys' cricket at U14 level. A talented hockey player himself, Stuart won almost 50 caps for the England and Great Britain hockey teams and played in the 1998 Commonwealth and 2000 Olympic Games. He is also a keen golfer.
Phillippa is a qualified physiotherapist and previously practised at Epsom Hospital. In her leisure time she enjoys singing and is a member of a local choral society.
