A large gathering of parents, Old Epsomians and Old Oundelians assembled at the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) ground in the heart of the City of London to watch the first XV chalk up their third win of the season in a lively and entertaining match against Oundle School.
Epsom secured a victory with a final score of 24-12. The match was arranged by Common Room member Roy Burgess (Crawfurd 1976-80) and Old Oundelian, Charles Marment, who are both members of the Territorial Army based at the HAC. It was the first time the two schools had met.
After the match, guests attended a reception in the Long Room of Armoury House and had the opportunity to meet the players and hear from Stephen Borthwick, Headmaster of Epsom College, and Charles Bush, Headmaster of Oundle School. Both congratulated the teams on an excellent match, which built sporting bridges between two schools that ordinarily do not come across each other.
