Prep School pupils take up the challenge

As part of the College's comprehensive Prep School events programme, four local schools competed last week for the coveted Epsom College 2010 Year 5 Quiz trophy.

The competitors - Kingswood House, Priory, Hazelwood and Danes Hill - each entered a team of four pupils aged 9-10, who were supported by a large audience parents and teachers from the respective schools.

The first round saw the teams answer quick-fire general knowledge questions, with Priory beating Kingswood House 310-115 and Danes Hill overcoming a strong challenge from Hazelwood to win 285-200.

An exciting final saw the lead change hands several times before Danes Hill finally overcame Priory to take the title with a score of 220 points to 160.

In the play-off match, Hazelwood beat Kingswood House 205-80 to take third place.

"The standard of general knowledge and level of confidence shown by all four teams was very impressive," said Quiz Master Paul Green, the College's Director of Admissions and Communications.
