The Thomas's Battersea team celebrate their victory in the Epsom College Year 6 Challenge Quiz
Teams from four Preparatory Schools took part in the Epsom College Year 6 Challenge Quiz last Friday in front of a large audience of parents and teachers in Main Hall.
In a competition based loosely on the BBC's University Challenge programme, teams from Chinthurst, Fulham Prep, Milbourne Lodge and Thomas's Battersea battled it out with fingers on buzzers as they answered a selection of quick fire general knowledge questions.
With starter questions worth 10 points and three bonus questions worth 5 points each, the first round saw Fulham Prep beat Chinthurst 205-130, while Thomas's Battersea scored a hard fought 245-185 win over Milbourne Lodge.
Following tea, Chinthurst met Milbourne Lodge in the third place play-off match with Milbourne Lodge scoring an emphatic 335-120 victory over Fulham Prep.
The eagerly awaited final pitched the two London prep schools together and saw the Thomas's team pull away in the final stages to score a convincing 305-135 victory.
"This well-supported and exciting event has become one of the highlights of the College's Prep Schools programme," said quizmaster Paul Green, Assistant Head, Admissions and Communications. "I was very impressed with the depth of general knowledge shown by all the children and their obvious enjoyment at taking part."
