Nigel Pascoe QC (Holman 1954-59) performed his original work, The Trial of Penn and Mead, to an enthusiastic audience of pupils, parents, Old Epsomians and friends on Saturday evening in Big School.
This brilliant one-man show recounts the trial of Penn and Mead in 1670 from which the fundamentally important legal principle of the independence of the jury was established. Legal Society President and Education Trust member, Steven Kay QC (Propert 1968-73) gave guests a warm welcome as did Chairman of Governors, Dr Andrew Vallance-Owen (Fayrer 1965-70) and Stephen Oliver, former English teacher and Education Trust member.
Tim Russell-Smith who attended commented, "It was a splendid evening, Big School looked magnificent, excellent pre-dinner refreshment, fine dining, and of course the magnificent drama that unfolded, truly outstanding." Part of the proceeds from this event will go to the Education Trust's General Bursary Fund.
The Trust looks forward to hosting more events that can be enjoyed by all members of the Epsom College community.
