OE Zak Dhabalia from Goldman Sachs spoke to the students about a career in investment banking
A highly successful World of Work Evening was held in October for 5th form pupils to learn more about working life and successfully developing their chosen career path.
A regular feature of the College's extensive careers programme, this year's event saw a wide range of guest speakers talk to pupils in small seminar-style groups about the reality of working within a specific industry or sector.
The speakers included a number of parents and Old Epsomians, who discussed their own careers and offered advice and guidance. Each student attended two talks by the panel of professionals and found the evening particularly valuable in terms of planning their work experience next summer.
The panel comprised representatives from the worlds of IT and security, medicine, mechanical and civil engineering, law, accountancy, investment banking, politics, scientific research, media and technology and sports management and PR.
The evening was organised by the Careers Department together with Sixth Form Co-ordinator Jon Whatley with input from the OE Club and the Education Trust. Early feedback from the pupils has been positive with many suggesting they have an eye for which paths to take and a few about which ones to avoid.
