Epsom supports the Terabai Desai Eye Hospital
The first whole-school Mufti Day raised £1,692 for our chosen Michaelmas Term charity, the Terabai Desai Eye Hospital in Rajasthan, India.
The generosity of our school community will allow the Tarabai Desai Eye Hospital to continue to provide free eye surgery to those in need in Rajasthan. The hospital organises Eye Camps throughout the state, where thousands of people attend examinations. Around 2,000 patients, who could not otherwise afford to pay, are operated on every year for the removal of cataracts and to save them from permanent blindness.
The hospital also recently funded a substantial extension to the hospital in Jodhpur and now require funding to replace old unserviceable medical equipment, which the Mufti money will contribute to.
Epsom is also sending a delegation of students and teachers to the hospital over the Christmas break to assist and learn from the doctors there. Previous excursions to Rajasthan have been educational and inspiring and we look forward to building on our relationship with this important charity.
