A unique association for Parents, Friends and Old Epsomians.
What is Friends of Epsom College?
Friends of Epsom College was founded as The Epsomian Society in 1976. The aim is to provide a broad base for parents and friends, particularly those who live and work in the neighbourhood, who would be interested in attending functions at Epsom College and to help finance small improvements and purchases within the College. It is intended to widen interest and support in maintaining independent education at the College and to reinforce the activities of the Old Epsomians.
Since its inception the Friends has supported a wide range of sporting, social, leisure and academic activities at the College and to a lesser extent of Old Epsomians. Membership is by election and is open to anyone who is interested in Epsom College and it's activities.
Subscription to the Friends is left to your discretion but is subject to a minimum of £15.00 a year. The Friends of Epsom College tie may be bought at the College Store.
Activities
By arrangement with the College, members and their guests are entitled to attend a number of functions at the College, including social functions of the Friends. The College calendar and details of special events are sent to each member at the beginning of each term.
At present there are two functions held by the Friends in each term which are primarily social. Members are also entitled to receive the annual accounts and to attend the Annual General Meeting at the College.
The committee of the Friends includes representatives from the Council, the Teaching Staff of the College, The Old Epsomian Club, Parents and those with no direct link with the College.

Epsom College was founded in 1855 as The Royal Medical Benevolent College. It continues to flourish as an independent school, with a fine record of academic, sporting and general achievement - The best foundation for Success.
It occupies a prominent position of 80 acres on the slopes of Epsom Downs where the fine old buildings have been supplemented by substantial modern additions. There are about 720 pupils at the school and since 1996 the College has been fully co-educational.
Throughout the life of Epsom College close links have been maintained with the medical profession and The Royal Medical Foundation, which supports the education of a number of children from medical families. However, Epsom College has no substantial endowments or income from other sources to help enhance the modernisation and improvement of its buildings and facilities, which are essential if the College is to maintain its high standards for which it is known. In recent years, over £6 million has been spent on major improvements, including the splendid Ronald Raven Sports Centre opened by HM the Queen in November 1989 and the new Mackinder academic building in 1999.
Epsom College celebrated its 150th anniversary in the academic year 2004/2005. This important milestone in the history of theThe Royal Medical Foundation of Epsom College was celebrated by a variety of different events, which started with a spectacular opening event at the Royal Albert Hall, an evening of music, dance and drama through which pupils, Old Epsomians, staff and guests reflected on the past, present and future of the charity. The event was a full-house with over 4,500 tickets sold.
Other events included a Lecture Series, a Thanksgiving Service at Guildford Cathedral, Sports Coaching day for Epsom College pupils, Historical Sports Fixtures, an RMF Lecture with "C", a CCF visit to Ypres, a concert at St. John's Smith Square and a Shooting Dinner held at Bisley with Lord Ashburton as principal guest and speaker.
In recent years the Friends have made a number of grants to departments within the College:
2004 : £6,750
2005: £7,014
2006: £7,768
2007: £6,525
