Propert House

Propert Housemaster Andy Wolstenholme was educated at Dartford Grammar School and St Luke's College, Exeter. He worked at a mixture of schools, state and private, single sex and co-educational, day and boarding, until finally settling on Epsom in 1996. He joined the College as Director of Sport with particular responsibility for rugby and the 1st XV.

Working in a variety of schools has added a wide range of teaching experiences that he can call upon when dealing with the energy and interests of talented teenage boys and girls.

Andy has extensive rugby playing and coaching experience. His first class rugby was played as a hooker for Blackheath - the oldest open rugby club in the world - and he gained representative honours with London Division and England Students. He then spent six years coaching at arguably the best club side in the world, Leicester Tigers, in the early 1990s when a series of very talented young players, including Martin Johnston, Neil Back, Lewis Moody and Graham Rowntree, were just coming on the scene. He is currently back coaching at his former club Blackheath in Division 1 of the National leagues.

Andy took over Propert House in 2003. It was a new challenge then and is still a very enjoyable one. He enjoys guiding uncertain new pupils and watching as they develop into young adults who are confident in their abilities and ambitious to learn and develop further when they leave.

Propert is a vibrant and friendly place to be. Boys are encouraged to get the most out of school life academically, but also to contribute strongly to School and House teams, plays and music. Developing social skills, respect, responsibility and trust are high on the agenda. The ability to work as part of a team and show leadership in a variety of ways is actively encouraged.

The boys are supported by a team of tutors throughout their time in Propert, which helps to develop a positive and welcoming atmosphere within the House
