Raven House, founded in 1999 and named after Dame Kathleen Raven, is our youngest house. It occupies the building that had been Crawfurd House, on to which the new Mackinder classroom block was built. Its location, at the very heart of the teaching area of the College campus, is found by its members to be most convenient, as is its proximity to the Tuck shop!
Philippa Woolmer joined Raven as Housemistress in September 2009.
Pip, a keen and talented sportswoman, has been at the College for the past six years, teaching Biology to A level and coaching girls' sport. She takes responsibility for the 56 girls in Raven, having previously been a residential House tutor in Crawfurd before moving to Rosebery House.
Pip lives close to the College with her husband Dale and Bengal cat Radisson.
Some 150 parents and guests joined their daughters for dinner and entertainment in Big School at the Raven House Winter Wonderland soirée at the end of the Michaelmas term. The evening provided an opportunity for the girls in the House to showcase their considerable talent in a variety of acts, including dance, drama, song and comedy sketches.
A highlight of the evening was the first live performance of Annie's Composition by Annie Bowes and Becky Tattersal. Fifth former Annie, whose ambition is to become a singer/songwriter, composed the music and wrote the lyrics herself. She can be seen performing another of her songs, High, in the video above.
The soirée was a successful evening, with parents able to socialise together, meet members of the Common Room and enjoy an entertaining programme that included an amusing U6th take on Blind Date, the 5th form Thriller Dance, the M4 dance Tick Tock and Becky Saunders, Gabby Watts and Lily Allert singing Breakway.
The evening finished with the House performing their winning Choral Competition unison, Mamma Mia.
