The College was fortunate this week to host BBC News presenter Sophie Raworth, who entertained a packed Main Hall talking about her life in the broadcast media.
The event was organised by the Politics department with the assistance of TV presenter Jonathan Maitland, who is an Old Epsomian.
Sophie is the main presenter of the BBC's News at One on Tuesday to Friday and regularly appears on other news programmes, including the flagship News at Ten.
Taking time off from her busy schedule she suggested ways that students could get involved in the media, outlined the pitfalls of her profession and regaled the audience with stories of the highs and lows of her career.
The evening finished with an interesting question and answer session. The questions ranged from the neutrality of the BBC to the most intimidating interviewee, and from balancing being a mother to three small children with a career to whether Sophie would consider doing Strictly Come Dancing?
