Croydon and Sutton UNA Debating Competiton

On Thursday 28 June, Ruan Oliver (P) and Cici Sacklen (M) competed in the final of the Croydon and Sutton UNA Debating Competiton held at Sutton Grammar School. They had the difficult task of proposing the motion: “This House believes that the United Nations is more in need of strengthening than reform”. However, they fought off stiff competition from Oxted School to win the competition and be awarded the Digby Weightman Shield by The Mayor of Sutton, Councillor Steve Cook.

Ruan and Cici were complimented by the judges on their strong arguments and flair for debate and they should be congratulated for all of their hard work and preparation throughout the competition.

This is the first time that Epsom College has won this accolade.
