Golf matches take place on Tuesday afternoons at Walton Heath Golf Club.
We have superb links to Walton Heath, which is just a few miles down the road and has the honour of hosting the 2018 British Masters.
Our competitive matches take place from March throughout summer and up until the start of November. There are 14 matches on the fixture list for Summer Term alone, including representative county matches.
Green fees and teas are covered by the School.
We have also developed a Girls’ Invitational tournament at Walton Heath for the Coronation Cup, a beautiful old solid silver trophy, which was donated by Penny and Roger Lane.
Golf as a Games option.
Those pupils opting to take Golf as their games option join the Epsom Downs Golf Club as Juniors. Fees are paid by School bill – £60 per term – which provides pupils with all playing rights and facilities of the Club House, including evenings, weekends and club competitions.
We have made the HMC National Foursomes Finals on several occasions in the past few years and have also won the Southern HMC Schools tournament twice.
In 2011 we won the County Girls’ Scratch Championships for the first time and we also won the Boys’ County Team Championships in 2010.
OE and former captain of golf, David Boote, won a scholarship to Stanford University, California, in 2012, while Ross McGowan, who left Epsom in 2000, won the English Amateur Championships before winning his European card and since won the Madrid Masters.
The College has a three-bay driving range and an artificial putting surface. While Epsom Downs Golf Club, 200 metres from the College, has full practice facilities.
Coaching is done by Stuart Walker (EDGC) and we also use Walton Heath’s indoor studio and their three professionals.
