Epsom Girls Achieve Impressive Results at the British Schoolgirls’ Races

Over the weekend, four talented skiers from Epsom travelled to Flaine to compete in the prestigious British Schoolgirls' Races, where they delivered outstanding individual and team performances

The event, held over three days, featured a series of challenging races: the Parallel Slalom, Slalom, and Giant Slalom. Each day brought its own set of challenges, including difficult course layouts and unpredictable weather conditions.

Progressed to the semi-finals

The weekend kicked off with the Parallel Slalom, where the Epsom team demonstrated remarkable skill and determination. The girls progressed all the way to the semi-finals, where they were narrowly defeated by Wellington. This strong performance placed them 4th overall, an impressive result against some of the country’s top ski schools.

On day two, the team faced the challenging Slalom course. Despite the difficult course and challenging weather, Amber Griffin finished 8th overall, securing 5th place in the U18 category – a fantastic achievement.

Heavy snow created difficult conditions

The final day saw the competitors take on the Giant Slalom, where heavy snow created difficult conditions. Nevertheless, Epsom’s skiers continued to perform admirably. Amber Griffin earned 6th place in the U18 category and 11th overall. Sophie Lovett placed 12th in the U16 category and 34th overall, while Zoe Moir finished 14th in the U18 category and 40th overall out of a field of 166 racers.

These results highlight the hard work and dedication of all four skiers. Congratulations to Amber, Sophie, Zoe, and Sabrina for their excellent performances at this challenging event.
