Cricket Tour to the United Arab Emirates

The cricket season kicked off in fine style for our Year 9 and Year 10 cricketers with a tour of the UAE. Meanwhile, on home soil, the seniors started their season in fine style.

Forty-two Year 9 and Year 10 cricketers travelled to the United Arab Emirates to take part in a pre-season tour. The boys entered both the Abu Dhabi International Schools Trophy and Plate competitions, while the girls faced local academy and senior sides.

On the pitch, the U15A boys side remained unbeaten against schools including Tonbridge, Malvern, Shrewsbury, and Merchant Taylors. The U15Bs enjoyed similar results, barring one narrow loss. Both teams ended up winning their tournaments.

The girls were competitive in all games, winning half, and setting strong foundations for what promises to be a wonderful summer season back home.

Off the pitch, the pupils enjoyed a variety of cultural days immersing themselves in the local way of life. Dune buggies, visits to the largest mosque in the world, alongside other trips, gave the pupils an extensive insight to life in the UAE.

Epsom senior cricketers start well against U18 County sides

Back at home, the girls and boys 1st XIs kicked off their respective seasons with games against the Surrey Girls U18s and Hampshire U18 boys pathway teams respectively.

In the girls fixture, Epsom recorded an emphatic 10-wicket victory in game one, before narrowly losing the second game having rotated their side.

In the boys fixture, Epsom scored 299 off their 40 overs with Alfie Haxton (91) and Alex Chambers (64) both scoring half centuries. In reply Epsom held their nerve to close out a 22 run victory.

A great start to a busy year ahead at senior level.
