King Henry VIII, Earthquakes, Intergalactic House Hunting and a Linguistic Feast

Year 5 pupils from across Surrey and South London travelled through space and time this week - sampling the very best Epsom has to offer

Throughout the year, Epsom partners with local prep and primary schools – offering pupils loads of opportunities to take part in exciting competitions, projects and masterclasses.

This week we’ve hosted almost 200 Year 5 pupils, from 19 schools and held a huge array of events – from tasting native treats from France, Spain, and Germany on Modern Languages Day, to grilling Henry VIII himself in a History debate about England’s worst monarch. The pupils brought energy and enthusiasm to every challenge.

We were also treated to a fantastic Jabberwocky performance by our talented public speakers, who wowed their parents with confidence and creativity.

In science, Year 5 pupils explored the cosmos across physics, biology, and chemistry labs to answer the big question: where in space could humans live? And to top it all off, our budding geographers roamed the College grounds investigating the weather, and designing earthquake-resistant structures.

“Thank you for an excellent day yesterday. The girls had a great time and are still talking about it this morning. It was so well organised and inspiring.” Falcons School

“The children came back and they had the best time, all of them were lit up and eager to share about their experience.” St Dunstan’s Cheam

“The workshops were amazing! When I asked the students which one did you like the most, they said all of them!!!” Weston Green
