The Target Rifle Squad almost matched their incredible season with a standout summer of shooting, enjoying a superb performance at the Schools’ Nationals at Bisley in July. As reigning National Champions, the pressure was on and the First Eight – made up of Rafi, Harry, Janice, Theo, Zoe, Aaron, Bryce and Jamie – came runners-up in the National Ashburton Shield. It means Epsom have finished in the top two for the last three years.
Additionally, the squad won numerous other awards. Janice was the top-scoring Cadet at the entire schools meeting, with Harry in second place. In total, Epsom had 12 shooters in the top 100.
Unsurprisingly, a number of the team were awarded national representation and several toured with the GB and UK Rifle teams. Rafi, Zoe, Lucy and Jamie represented the Wales Adult squad, while Rafi, Harry, Zoe, Aaron, Bryce, Jamie, Amelia, Theo, Caspar and Louis gained national cadet-level honours.
Rafi captained the Athelings British U18 team to Jersey, alongside Aaron, Zoe and Harry, while Amelia and Mehrad toured Scotland with the UK Cadet Rifle Team and Theo captained the U19s.
This success has been built over many years, with the entire target rifle coaching team nurturing this special talent. We are proud of the team spirit and mentality that goes into all this success.
