A Summer of Stage & Song

From national orchestras to the Edinburgh Fringe, our students spent the summer showcasing their creative talents in music and drama on some of the most prestigious stages

Over the summer many of our younger musicians continued to hone their considerable skills – some that have come to our attention were Mara, who gained a place in the National Youth String Orchestra; Annabel who played with the National Children’s Orchestra; Ivan, Ananya, Alex, Sophia, Lila, Isaac, Will and Fraser who sang with the National Youth Choir; and Hattie, enjoyed a week’s residential on the European Youth Music course.

In drama, one of last year’s Heads of School, John, starred again on the stage at the Edinburgh fringe as one of the leads in Ghost Light as part of the Young Pleasance Theatre Company. Meanwhile, Polina spent a month at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, enhancing her acting skills with the use of stage combat, mask work and performing in a play called Translations.

At the end of last term, Ananaya and Josh picked up Awards at the National School Theatre Awards for their performances in Les Misérables, and rehearsals took place this week for the two Senior shows coming up this year – Little Women in December and Hadestown in March.
