White | Epsom College

White House was originally established in 1976 as a Boarding and Day House for Sixth Form girls – the year Epsom went co-ed. It was relocated a few years later to its present home at the northern end of the terrace of what were originally almshouses overlooking the College lawns.

White is now a day house for girls aged 13-18 (with boarding available in the Sixth Form) and welcomed its first cohort of Year 9 day girls in 2018. Faith Smith, the Housemistress, is also the College’s Senior Housemistress.

Faith Smith, Housemistress

I took over as Housemistress of White House in September 2015. I love the energy and buzz of the House and the way the girls support each other across the year groups. There is never a dull moment and the girls are such fun to be with!

I attended Bristol University where I completed a BSc in Mathematics and also studied for my PGCE. I am passionate about skiing and showjumping – in the past I have run showjumping and eventing teams, taking them to national success in the Schools Finals and at Hickstead.

My mum lives in France so I spend much of my free time in Normandy. In the UK, you can often find me at the gym or walking our House puppy, Millie.

Mafalda Simoes, Matron

I joined the team in White House in 2008; I became the Assistant Matron in 2018 and in 2020 while holding White House Assistant Matron post I was working as the Relief Matron in Fayrer House once a week.

White House has always been like a second home to me due to the Housemistress, the girls and staff having a warm and welcoming nature. I love the dynamics of the house, it has a fun and friendly family-like atmosphere.

I have one grown-up daughter and five Pomeranian’s. I love reading, music and walking my dogs in my spare time.

Charlotte Edwards, Head of House 2024-25

My name is Lottie, and I joined Epsom College in Year 7 in 2018. I have loved my time at Epsom so far and am looking forward to an exciting year, representing White as Head of House.

I am studying Psychology, Business Management and Design & Technology, as well as Core Maths as an additional qualification.

I love representing the College in both netball and tennis, whilst practicing for Grade 8 ballet outside of school. I undertake several extra-curricular activities such as: peer mentoring, Grade 8 singing, architecture society and the CCF leadership course.

White House is a warm, friendly, talented House with a wonderful mixture of day and boarding students. I look forward to representing the White House community and creating life-long memories.
