Holman was named after Sir Constantine Holman, a member of the College Council for many years and Treasurer from 1887-1906. He was a pre-eminent doctor who became Vice-President of the British Medical Foundation and received a knighthood from King Edward VII in 1904.
Chris Filbey, Housemaster
I became Holman Housemaster in September 2017. The happiness and wellbeing of the Holman boys is my main priority, and our shared House values of kindness, integrity and ambition are vital to this.
I also teach Spanish and French and coach hockey and cricket. I joined Epsom from Haileybury where I was Head of Modern Foreign Languages and an Assistant Housemaster.
I was educated at Sherborne School and have a BA(Hons) in Modern European Languages from the University of Durham.
I like to play cricket, hockey and golf and am a passionate supporter of Gloucester rugby. I also love a day at Lord’s watching Test Match cricket.
I am married to Rhian and we have two young children, William and Seren. In the holidays, my family and I can often be found on the Suffolk coast. We are all proud to call Holman our home.
Tracy Morris, Matron
I have been at the College for 10 years now and I love being Holman’s Matron. My favourite thing about the House is – obviously – the boys.
My second favourite is the spectacular view we enjoy from the back of the House looking out over the grounds – it is stunning! The boys can go straight from the House out onto the beautiful playing fields.
Holman is more of a home than a ‘House’, and we really are one big happy family. I try to add as many little touches as possible, to make Holman feel welcoming, the boys enjoy homemade cookies, toast at break time and afternoon snacks in our Brew Room. We also have fun throughout the year, whether it is carving pumpkins, making pancakes or decorating the Christmas tree!
In my spare time, I enjoy pottering about in the garden – growing vegetables and flowers, I have added a lot of plants and flowers to the House. We even have our own little garden which is very peaceful and pretty.
Myles Eckes, Head of House
This year will be my Fifth Year at Epsom and in Holman after joining in the College in the Middle Fourth. All the boys in Holman have always made it feel like a tightly-knit community and I have enjoyed being a part of it ever since I joined. For my A-levels, I study Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. At the College, I enjoy playing football, cricket and rugby as well as playing the guitar in my free-time.
