A confident Netball victory against Forest School

The 1st VII met Forest School in the second round of the Independent Schools’ Cup. In the first few minutes, it seemed the game could be close, but Epsom steadied early nerves with a five-goal run to take an 11-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The girls then did not look back and, as their confidence grew, they took what they had been working on in training and implemented more strategic play to create numerous interceptions and force errors, pulling comfortably ahead and increasing the lead with every quarter.

Despite only being together for four weeks the girls have gelled extremely well as a team. The depth of the bench of nine was clear, with every girl taking to the court and a range of combinations tried, all proving just as strong as each other.

The great team effort resulted in a 44-17 win.

Players of the Match: Ebube Akojie (Wh), Jen Phizackerley (Cr) and Liz Phizackerley (Cr)
