Boys Retain the Goddard and Gomme Trophies

On a windy spring afternoon Epsom staged the annual Goddard and Gomme memorial track meeting, featuring six other schools (Cranleigh, St John’s, Sevenoaks, RGS Guildford, Hurstpierpoint and Eastbourne).

The competition was of a high standard given the very early stage of the season and it was excellent to see Epsom retain both trophies. The Junior team deserves special mention for their outstanding start to the season, although all three teams won their respective age groups.

In the seniors, Luke Laughton (C) won the 100m and the B string Long Jump, Benji Oosterwyk (P) the Triple Jump, Milan Olu-Williams (Fa) the Long Jump, Jamie Endeley (C) the B string Triple Jump, George Dignum (Rn) the 200m B string and the 4x100m relay team won their event.

In the Inters, Toby Reynolds (G) ran well to win the 1500m, and Olaiya Adeniji (F) won the Shot Put. In the B string events, Solomon Ekoku (F) won the Triple Jump, Matthew Dipre (H) the Javelin, Aadham Ahmad (F) the Shot Put and Bryn Cann (Fa) the High Jump.

The juniors made an excellent start to their Athletics careers, winning 12 events across the afternoon. Key performer was Seumas MacLeod (H), who won the 300m, the high jump and the Javelin in an excellent all-round display.

Will Springett (Fa) won the 100m and the two relay teams also won. In the B string, Fraser Law (Rn) won three events, the two sprints and the Long Jump, while Rorke Ollerhead (Fa) won the 300m, Lorcan McMahon (F) the 1500m, Cosmo Mullen (P) the Triple Jump and Halim Berisha (P) the Shot Put.
