On Saturday 27th April, we held an afternoon reception to celebrate The Mermaid, a landmark development at the College.
Over 200 donors attended the event, to whom we are extremely thankful for their generous contributions. Without the support of our OE community, including those who were unfortunately absent on Saturday; a development of this scale just wouldn’t be possible and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to all.
Guests were invited to join for a celebratory glass (or two!) of bubbles, and the College catering team provided a fantastic spread as always. Guests were welcome to tour the building and see the impressive results for themselves. It was a fantastic atmosphere and so encouraging to witness such a positive response. The state of the art lecture theatre was a particular show stopper amongst our OEs, old and new!
The Head, Sir Anthony Seldon gave an informative speech, and the building was then blessed by Canon Andrew Haviland.
We were thrilled to host this event to mark many years of hard work. We thank our donors, parents and pupils for their patience and understanding throughout the build. It is with great pride that we can report the Mermaid is benefiting our sixth form students as originally intended. The inspirational space allows for intuitive working, better preparing our students for their journeys into higher education.
There is still the opportunity for you to support this capital campaign by sponsoring a ‘Seat of Learning’ in the specialist Lecture Theatre.
