Chemistry Challenge 2024 Champions

Epsom's team of Year 10 pupils emerge as regional winners - ahead of Brighton College and City of London Freemen's

Following January’s Inter-House Year 10 Chemistry Challenge, the victorious Team Carr was selected to represent Epsom College at this week’s regional finals of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Chemistry Challenge.

Our pupils spent an afternoon completing a series of challenging theoretical and practical experiments, held at Kingston University’s Chemistry Department. This was followed by a tour of the research laboratories with Professor Adam Le Gresley, where they were able to witness first-hand the use of advanced analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry, high-performance liquid chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

Team Carr performed superbly on the day and emerged victorious, with Epsom College becoming the regional winners for the first time ever, beating several other leading schools including City of London Freemen’s and Brighton College, to take top spot.
