College Musicians Advance in National Competition

Two of Epsom College’s promising musicians have secured places at the 2019 Rotary Young Musician of the Year regional final. Following success at a local level, Upper Sixth pupils Ben Abbott (C), Jasmine Bingham (M) and Dominic Nong (G) competed at the District Final held at St Catherine’s School, Bramley last week.

Congratulations go to Jasmine who won the vocal category and Dominic who was awarded second place in the instrumental category. Vicarious congratulations go to staff accompanist Gill Ford, who accompanied and coached Jasmine and teaches Dominic the piano.

Jasmine sung Mozart’s Non so più cosa son from the Marriage of Figaro, Sure on this Shining Night by Barber and the comical Girl in 14G by Tesori.

Dominic played Haydn’s Piano Sonata No.62 in E flat major paired with Schumann’s Träumerei.

Both students will go on to represent the College at the South East Regional Final in April.
