College’s Chapel Choir Sing at St Paul’s Cathedral

Epsom choristers invited to sing Choral Evensong at one of the country's most iconic venues.

The College Chapel Choir were invited to sing Choral Evensong in the magnificent setting of St Paul’s Cathedral, London, on Monday 17 October.

50 members of the Chapel Choir were in fine voice singing a varied programme of liturgical music which included Murrell’s setting of the Evening Service in E Major alongside Wood’s magnificent anthem ‘Hail Gladdening Light’. This eight-part and unaccompanied anthem allowed the choristers to bask in the fabulous acoustic of one of the country’s most iconic venues.

Director of Music, Mr Paul Johnson-Hyde, said: “The choir sung with maturity and sensitivity. To present music of such a high quality so early in the academic year, on top of their usual weekly output, is a testament to the hard work and dedication the choristers displayed in rehearsals”.

Parents of the choristers enjoyed a tour of the cathedral before the evensong which was also attended by many Old Epsomians.
