Congratulations To Our Thespians Of The Term

The Epsom College Drama Department’s Thespian of the Term Award is a new initiative which launched in September 2020. The award highlights and celebrates one junior student and one senior student who has embodied the core aims and ethos of the department.

Congratulations to the Michaelmas term recipients Fifth Form student Thea Haigh (R), and Third Form pupil Annabel Curry (Wa). The winners of the award have shown a true passion for drama across their academic studies and/or their involvement in co-curricular activities.

Annabel is praised for her great enthusiasm and focus in Drama lessons. Director of Drama, Miss Rhiannon Johnson said, “She is sensitive and inclusive, drawing on the ideas of others in the group, as well as her own when developing scenes. She has demonstrated an excellent understanding of dramatic techniques and impressed with her performance skills during the recent assessment.”

Thea is praised for her outstanding commitment to her GCSE studies. She wrote and performed an outstanding monologue about the brutality of war and its impact on young children. This showed an excellent use of voice and stillness to communicate a difficult range of emotions.

Mr Lodge, director for Les Misérables also added, “Thea is fully involved in Les Misérables and enjoying taking a variety of roles. Her commitment in rehearsals is exemplary and she responds incredibly well to direction. She is an excellent role model for her peers and for younger age groups and is incredibly supportive of other cast members.”
