As the holidays commenced, 38 Lower Sixth students ventured to the Lake District in a bid to complete their Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold assessed expedition. Six groups of participants completed a four-day circumnavigation of this beautiful national park.
Hiking in remote and difficult terrain for eight or more hours a day, over four days, carrying all food, shelter and equipment really is an exceptional achievement.
There is no guarantee of passing, however it is thrilling to report that all 38 candidates successfully completed the expedition, with some groups making light work of the challenges they faced by using teamwork and a good sense of humour.
The groups were accompanied by Joline Liu, David Nuthall and Dan Reeve who were all impressed by the students’ efforts and resilience.
