Dr Emma Ross – Sport in Her Shoes

We welcomed Dr Emma Ross, the former Head of Physiology at the English Institute of Sport, who specialises in improving sport for women and girls to the College this week.

Dr Emma Ross is behind several breakthrough initiatives that ensure active women – and their support teams – understand and support the female part of the female athlete. In 2021 she received The Sunday Times Sports Women of the Year Changemaker Award in recognition of her work to improve sport for women.

On Tuesday, she delivered talks to Epsom pupils, parents and staff concentrating on her area of specialism. Her talk ‘Sport in Her Shoes’ focused on everything from the menstrual cycle, female-centric nutrition, kit and equipment for girls’ bodies, female psychology in sport, training, maintaining participation and building environments where women thrive.

We are incredibly grateful for Dr Emma Ross’s visit to the College and for passing on such interesting and thought-provoking insights into this important topic.
