Epsom College builds on record-breaking A-level results with half of all GCSEs awarded 9-8 (A*)

  • 50% of exams graded 9-8 (A*)
  • 74% awarded 9-7 (A*-A)

Following last week’s strong A-level results, Epsom College is delighted that half of all GCSEs have been graded 9-8 (A*), and 74% are in the 9-7 range (A*-A).

There are outstanding results in all areas of the curriculum, notably in Art, Geography, German, History, Maths, Music, Photography and Religious Studies. Over 80% of grades in these subjects have been awarded 9-7 (A*-A).

Headmaster, Mr Jay Piggot, said: “Today’s GCSE results are commendable, and our pupils deserved credit for their considerable advancement of learning. High quality teaching and learning has taken us to this point, and teachers and the support of parents have contributed markedly.

“These excellent results provide an assured foundation for this able cohort of pupils to embark upon the exciting challenge of A-level study and future university application.”

Outstanding individual performances

Within the context of a talented year group, there are some notable individual performances. Top performers included Thomas Maloney, Jessica Haigh, Elizabeth Mitchell, Natsuki Osaka, James Curtis, Alexander Wilkinson all with 8 or more examinations at grade 9 (or equivalent).
