Epsom College Housemistress Marches For The Marsden

Every year, thousands of people walk together to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event has been rebranded as The Banham Marsden March at Home. Supporters are being asked to walk 5 or 15 miles on a route of their choice in their local area.

Housemistress of Crawfurd House, Leah Skipper, is part of a group of local mums taking part in this year’s event. It is a charity close to her heart:

“To my absolute shock I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2020, which felt like a really appropriate end to a fairly tricky year,” explains Leah. “I was lucky enough to be treated at the Royal Marsden in Sutton and undergo surgery in Chelsea. The care from all the staff has been utterly amazing.

“While this isn’t an experience I want to dwell on, I do want to help the charity as much as possible and when some local friends mentioned the Marsden March I jumped at the chance to give something back.

“A group of us are planning a 15-mile walk around the Surrey Downs as the Marsden March has been made a virtual event.”
