Epsom Pupils Progress in Rotary Young Musician Competition

The College was delighted to host the Rotary Young Musician Competition in Big School on Tuesday evening which was attended by the Mayor of Epsom and Ewell, Councillor Peter O’Donovan, and members of the local rotary club.

The Rotary Young Musician competition, which is open to young people aged under 18, provides a stage for musical talent to shine. Starting with local level competitions, winners progress to district events. Whilst College musicians have progressed to the national finals in recent years, the competition will stop at the district level for this year. The competition is in two categories – Instrumental and Vocal.

The College musicians performed extremely well, with Anna Gillespie (R) and Fraser Spalding (Fa) receiving joint second place. Barney Fildes (P) won the Vocal category and Katie Evans (M) came second place. The first and second placings of each category will go forward to the District Final in the spring.
