With two year groups away on study leave, the Ensembles Concert was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the emerging musical talent of our younger pupils.
The Concert Orchestra, under the direction of Mr Freddy Wickham, opened the evening with a vibrant set of film favourites. Their programme included a thrilling rendition of The Incredibles, a beautifully lyrical performance of Gabriel’s Oboe, and an atmospheric interpretation of How to Train Your Dragon, all performed with sensitivity and energy.
The Lower School Orchestra gave energetic performances of Strauss’s Radetzky March and John Williams’s Star Wars Main Theme.
The Junior Blues ensemble injected a lively dose of jazz into the evening with Herbie Hancock’s Watermelon Man.
Close harmony singing continues to thrive at the College, with the Acapella group performing stylish versions of My Favourite Things and Down by the Riverside. The Barbershop group gave a spirited performance of Uptown Girl to round off the evening.
Despite the absence of some of our older year groups, the concert was a vibrant celebration of music-making at Epsom.
