German Students Enjoy Munich’s Culture

After meeting bright and early at school, we set off for London Heathrow for our 7am flight. Landing in Munich late morning, we began the trip with a full day exploring the city, visiting the Allianz Arena, Christmas markets and the Olympic tower. On the Saturday, we proceeded to the provincial town of Coburg, meeting our host families in the evening. On Sunday, we visited the recently built Coburg Globe theatre where we watched a German adaptation of the Wizard of Oz. We then spent a quiet afternoon with our host families.

Monday morning brought a fairly early start, with school starting at 8am. We attended two lessons before an exciting afternoon of climbing, and an evening with our host families. We started Tuesday morning in the school gym, spending the remainder of the morning touring Ehrenberg Palace, the residence of the ruling princes and princesses of Coburg between 1543 and the 19th century. After this insightful tour, we were taken on a more in-depth tour of Coburg by the English 6th Form conversation class. Towards the evening, we took a trip to the local cinema to watch Wonka, which was an enjoyable final activity to round off a very successful trip. Wednesday was spent primarily travelling back to Munich after thanking our host families, in time to catch our flight in the late afternoon. Many thanks to Mrs Groves for organising the trip and for Mr Jackson for supporting us during the trip.
