Girls Hockey Round-up

Against Brighton, the senior girls all excelled, with the 1st team setting the tone on Friday night in front of a large, appreciative crowd under lights on Chapel Astro. Their 4-0 win was impressive and a totally dominant display, with Lottie Burton (M) scoring again in a player of the match display; Adahna Ekoku (Rv), Liv Wilde (R) and Lara Watson (M) also scored.

On Saturday the 2nd team won 4-1 to maintain their excellent run, Lucy Curtis (R) scoring twice, while Ysella Oliver (Rv) was outstanding in goal. The 3rds won 1-0 and Emily Vandrau (R) scored seven goals in a crushing win for the 4th team.

Junior teams

The Junior teams found the going tougher, with only the U14A and C teams managing draws.

In the U15s, the A team fought back as they had last week, but succumbed 4-2 in the end, despite Bella Watkins (R) making some excellent saves in goal.

Jess Alexander (Rv) had a commanding performance in midfield for the B team while Kiara Padayachy (M) played well in goal for the C team, but neither team could win their matches.

In the U14s, injury and illness decimated regular squads so it was pleasing for the A team to claim a draw. Sophie Edison (M) proved her worth up front once again with the Epsom goal, while Farrah Stephens-Martin (M) was player of the match.

The B team lost despite Lily Taylor-Fitzgibbon’s (Rv) best efforts, but the C team played well for a draw in their game, Lucy Pickering (Cr) scoring the equaliser and Verity Russell (R) keeping out many shots in goal.

The U13 and U12 teams won 6 out of their 8 matches against local rivals City of London Freemen’s.

Ella Stephens (Wa) and Amelia Burke (Wa) scored four each in an easy win for the U13As; Daisy Carty (Wa) scored three for the C team, and Minette Marshal (Hu) four and Isabella Cannon (GH) three for the D team in their wins.

In the U12s, Sophie Long (Wa) stood out in the A team’s 2-1 victory, while there were also wins for the B and D teams, where Millie Milne (Hu) scored all four goals.

A strong half term for all
