Going for Gold

Lower Sixth students embark on Epsom College's biggest DofE challenge yet

At the start of the summer break, 45 of our Lower Sixth students set off for an unforgettable four-day adventure in the rugged landscapes of Snowdonia, tackling their Duke of Edinburgh Gold qualifying expedition. This is no small feat: the Gold Award is the highest level of the DofE programme, demanding exceptional resilience, planning, and teamwork.

Over the course of the expedition, the group navigated challenging terrain, carried full packs, and covered close to 100km on foot – all while remaining completely self-sufficient.

Blessed with clear skies and sunshine, they demonstrated determination and camaraderie in abundance. Their success on this demanding journey means they are now well on their way to achieving the prestigious Gold Award, a nationally recognised mark of character and commitment.
