Golfers Impress at The Southern Schools ISGA Championship

A good start to the golf season got even better this week as the team won the Southern Schools ISGA Championship, beating prestigious golfing schools such as Reed’s, Gordon’s and Wellington. Great golf was on show for all to see, with Oscar Lent (P) attacking the golf course with his driver, missing only one fairway as he went on to shoot one under par.

After a tricky start, Kris Kim (Fa) fought back on the back nine by making three birdies with a fantastic display of putting to also shoot one under par, as the two finished tied for the lead for the individual competition. Alex McWilliam (Fa) struggled off the tee throughout, however he putted well and gave the others help by showing the line to some putts.

This exceptional achievement for the 1st team will be looked back upon for some time. In the coming week, further challenges are to come for the 1st team as they go to Royal Ashdown Forest for the Smarden Bell Invitational, followed by the second round of the HMC Foursomes against Reigate Grammar at Walton Heath.

Epsom Boys

  • Kris Kim (Fa) 69
  • Oscar Lent (P) 69
  • Alex McWilliam (Fa) 82
  • Team Score: 139 Gross 1st Place / 143 Net 3rd Place

The girls showed great effort in their first major competitive match for the College. However, the set up of the course made it hard for them to score on several holes due to its tight tree-lined design and some long holes, which made hitting greens hard. As a young team early in their College careers they will surely look back at this day as a starting point and will undoubtedly improve in time.

Epsom Girls

  • Holly Justice (Hu) 87
  • Lucie Jones (R) 97
  • Sophia Moores (Wh) N/R
  • Team Score: 184 Gross 22nd Place / 154 Net 20th Place
