Lockdown Challenge Launched

In the best spirit of ‘Excellence and Benevolence’, next week sees the launch of The Epsom Lockdown Challenge. In the words of Mr Nick Russell, the challenge will encourage all pupils to maintain “a varied life and a generous heart throughout lockdown”.

“An Epsom education is an holistic education. We look to provide opportunities to develop the whole person, and that aspiration holds true despite the need for remote teaching. Since lockdown began, a range of charitable, sporting, musical and theatrical initiatives have been created for students, and we encourage them to get involved.”

Starting next Friday, all students will be surveyed weekly to assess their level of engagement across a range of life-affirming activities. The aim is to encourage an active lifestyle and to ensure that a healthy sense of balance is maintained.

The data will also provide opportunities for tutor groups, houses and year groups to set themselves some meaningful and aspirational targets.

A key aim is for the College to continue to support the local community. The Challenge will incentivise students to help out at home, contact elderly relatives and contribute to local good causes such as Foodbanks, Growbaby and the NHS vaccine programme at Epsom Racecourse.

Heads of Year and Tutors will be in touch with further detail early next week.
