Lower Sixth Historians at Hampton Court

On Thursday, the Lower Sixth Historians spent the afternoon at Hampton Court, investigating how the history and architecture of the palace provides key evidence of the drama and intrigue of Tudor politics.

Following an external orientation, the students toured the royal apartments and famous kitchens, answering an extensive questionnaire. Congratulations to Annabelle Harper (W), who won a copy of Simon Thurley’s Houses of Power for the most complete answers. Mr Jones then led a tour of Henry VIII’s supposedly “lost” privy chambers, revealing just how much we can still learn about the workings of the king’s inner sanctum, if only we know where to look.
