Netballers Reach Final of the Seaford Tournament

A very enjoyable tournament, with the girls displaying some fantastic netball and receiving lots of compliments. They dominated their group matches against some really good teams. Shooters India Binnie (R), Hannah Palmer (M) and Ellie Thwaites (M) were confident and played intelligently, utilising the two-point scoring zone well.

Defence through the court was excellent, but stand out circle defence by Adahna Ekoku (Rv), Sophie Rhodes (R) and Ebube Akoije (Wh) limited the oppositions’ ability to score.

In centre court Grace Crompton (R), Ellie Cooke (R), Jennifer Phizackerley (Cr) and Elisabeth Phizackerley (Cr) shared the centre position, and with the ability to do rolling substitutions, the girls were able to go all out for short bursts of time and then rotate the position.

Despite a run of great wins to get to the final, sadly the win in the final eluded them. Although many in the crowd were impressed by the team’s moves off the court, as well as on (see below).

Well done to all the girls, but especially Ebube Akoije who was deservedly awarded player of the tournament, something voted for by all the team’s coaches.
