Olivia and Alexandra Perform at Regional English Speaking Final

The Year 7 pupils performed Shakespeare monologues, having been nominated to go through to the regional final.

Third Form girls Olivia Dos Anjos Araujo and Alexandra O’Connor took part in the English Speaking Union Regional Final for a Shakespeare performance competition this week.

Having both progressed through the first round, the Epsom representatives did a fantastic job to be nominated through to the final, held at St Catherine’s School in Guildford on Tuesday. They each had to perform a Shakespeare monologue and began by speaking about why they had chosen their piece, and what they intended the audience to feel or learn by watching them.

Judges included well-known actresses Clare Skinner (Outnumbered) and Abigail Cruttenden (Not Going Out) and Olivia and Alex did a fantastic job, despite not progressing through to the final round. Only two of the 14 performances were sent through to the final, so the girls should be very proud of themselves.
