Royal Navy visit HMS BRISTOL and the Peter Ashley Activities Centre

This week saw a successful CCF field trip to HMS Bristol, with leadership and team-building exercises at the Peter Ashley Activities Centre. The 33 cadets stayed aboard HMS Bristol, a Type 82 Destroyer that saw active service during the Falklands War and now acts as an RN training ship and soaked up all aspects of life in the Royal Navy.

All cadets disembarked and made the short trip to the Peter Ashley Activities Centre at Fort Purbrook, which was originally built to defend Portsmouth during the Napoleonic Wars.

At the Peter Ashley Activities Centre, cadets completed a number of adventurous activities including bouldering, mountain biking, and bushcraft (leading to the eventual toasting of marshmallows) in order to build leadership and team-building skills.

All cadets engaged in a series of initiative tests; a team of Fifth Form and Sixth Form cadets managed to complete one of these challenges in what was reported to be the fastest time on record.
