Sport Round Up – 27 January

In Hockey the Girls’ 1st team defeated Wellington on Thursday in the top-of-the-table Tier 1 match. The fully Sixth Form squad put in a strong performance against the Wellington side who had not lost a match in the National Competition so far this season. Goals from Jess Dyson (Upper Sixth, White) and Yasi Fryer (Lower Sixth, Raven) brought Epsom the 2-0 win.

The Netball 1st VII reached the quarter-finals of the SNS National Cup with a thrilling 37-31 win over Farnborough Sixth Form College, to set up an exciting match against Millfield. The 1st team had also battled to an impressive win over Brighton College on Saturday, 34-26, in a block of fixtures which saw the team undefeated in 11 of 21 games. The 2nd team also won their Cup match against St Swithun’s this week 37-34.

After the frustration of postponed matches for virtually all on Saturday due to the freezing weather, the U16A Football team recorded back-to-back wins against Berkhamsted and St John’s, while the 1st team bounced back from their disappointment in defeat in the ISFA Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday to beat St John’s on Thursday, along with good wins for the 2nds and 3rds. The Lower School boys also had a clean sweep of victories against St John’s.

The 1st, 2nd and U14 Squash teams all had good matches against Harrow this week, in preparation for the KS5 National fixture against them in the coming weeks. 4-1 wins bodes well for the senior teams.
