Sport Round Up – 3 February

In Football the U15As won 3-0 against the American School in London to reach the ISFA fourth round, with goals from Riccardo Figna (Year 10, Carr), Benjy Lee (Year 10, Granville), and Zac Jones (Year 10, Propert). The team will play Marlborough College in their quarter final match next week. The U13As play their National ISFA semi final match against Aldenham this afternoon.

The Netball 1st team beat Ipswich School 51-23 to reach the quarter finals of another national competition. Players of the match were Sophie Stephens (Lower Sixth, Rosebery) and Mojo Ojo (Upper Sixth, Crawfurd).

The Rugby 7s squad reached the semi finals of the Seaford 10s tournament on Sunday, losing out to winners Trinity 5-7. Also in Rugby news, OE Kyle Sinckler (pictured) starts for England vs Scotland in the first Six Nations match on Saturday.

Congratulations to Sophie Lovett (Year 8, Glyn Hughes) and Sabrina Smith (Year 10, Raven) who represented the College at the 2023 British School Girl Ski Championships in Flaine, France, earlier this week. Their efforts placed Epsom 33rd out of 44 in the Giant Slalom and 30th in the Slalom, impressive considering they were a two-person team up against other larger teams.

The two remaining Squash groups have qualified for the national finals, meaning that all six groups that could have possibly qualified will compete at the national finals – an incredible achievement. The finals take place 14-17 March in Birmingham.

Last Saturday, three Epsom Swimmers competed in the English Schools’ Swimming Association Individuals at the Surrey School Swimming Gala with Lincoln Kung (Lower Sixth, Granville) winning the bronze medal in the Senior Boys 100m Butterfly with a time of 1:03:47. Congratulations to Freddy Garnham (Year 7, Wardroper) and Nathan Farmer (Year 10, Robinson) who placed 7th and 9th respectively in their categories at the event.
