Sport Round Up – 30 June

In Athletics George Johnson (Year 11, Propert) has been selected to represent England at the upcoming Home Countries International after finishing 2nd at the English Schools in Birmingham today with 59.14 in the Javelin.

At the Epsom meeting last Saturday – our boys and girls won overall by a large margin – and the girls teams (Juniors, Inters and Seniors) all won at every age group.

Five school records were broken – Savannah Ingledew (Lower Sixth, Crawfurd) – Senior 1500m; George Johnson  – Inter Javelin; Chris Cohalan (Year 9, Propert) – Junior 1500m; and the Junior Girls and Junior Boys 4 x 300m relay squads.

Our Cricket teams have been flying high, reaching a range of national and county finals, with more to come this summer!

The U12 Boys won the County Cup, beating Whitgift, the U15 Boys have reached the national final after a win over Marlborough College and the U15 Girls have reached the county cup final which they will play on Monday.

The U14 Girls and U15 Boys are currently in action in the Surrey Hardball Cup Final and County Final respectively.

In fixtures, all the girls teams won their matches against Thomas’s Clapham and Dunottar and there were seven wins out of 10 for the boys against St George’s at the weekend.

In Tennis Ciara Moore (Year 10, Raven) will now play in the international qualifying event for Junior Wimbledon and the U15 Mixed team won the Epsom tournament against Sevenoaks, Cranleigh, Wellington and Haileybury. The U14s came second and the 1st team third in their tournament at Wellington and Sevenoaks respectively.

Kris Kim has been selected for the England Boys’ Golf team who will take part in the European Team Championships.

In Rugby, Old Epsomian Bryn Bradley (Class of 2021) represented Wales in the U20 World Cup in South Africa.

Maja Maziuk (Year 10, Wilson) came 1st in the U17s Italian Junior Squash Open.
