Sporting Highlights From Michaelmas 2021

With Covid still impacting school life, many schools struggled to get teams out this term. Last-minute cancellations and depleted rosters took their toll, but our participation rates remained high.

Across the whole School, almost 70% of pupils took part in competitive fixtures. 99% of Lower School pupils competed for their school, with an impressive 92% of Middle Fourth and 96% of Upper Fourth pulling on the team jerseys.

Among those fixtures, Epsom enjoyed impressive results.

  • We fielded 23 teams and played 149 fixtures.
  • The U12As went through the season with a 100% record (7 matches, 7 wins)
  • Six other teams suffered just one defeat, including all the U14 teams (ABCD) and the 3rd XV
  • Over half of all matches were won in a tough fixture card

  • 24 teams played a total of 188 fixtures
  • Four teams went through the regular season unbeaten:
    • 2nd XI (10 matches, 9 wins 1 draw)

The senior squash sides also remain unbeaten this term, and have picked up team and individual trophies including both the Division 1 and 2 trophies in the Surrey School Invitational Tournament.

The senior golfers have picked up silverware and accolades across the term including the Smarden Bell Southern Schools iSGA and Independent Schools Invitational, while the HMC foursomes and ISGA Championships final stages follow after Christmas.
