Squash Success For Ronnie Hickling

From Saturday 19 to Sunday 20 June, three young Epsom College squash players competed in the Oxshott Junior Open, an England Squash tournament featuring talented players from across the country.

This was the first external tournament for Epsom’s players for many months. In the U15s category, Epsom’s Ronnie Hickling (Wa) and Wilf Baker (Fa) were the most impressive players in the tournament; they met in the semi-final (which really should have been the final, based on the quality of squash) and, after a competitive battle, Ronnie won 3-1.

Ronnie went on to win the final without losing a game, while Wilf also won the third-fourth playoff comfortably. Finn Vowles (Wa) played well in the U13 event, winning his first match, but unfortunately came up against the first seed in round two.
