Squash teams victorious over Wellington

The 1st V had to fight hard to beat Wellington 3-2. Epsom started well, with 3-0 victories in both the fourth and fifth seed matches, Elliott Rumble (P) and James Bull (G) respectively outplaying their opponents in all areas.

The first and second seeds then went on court. Captain Ben Harris (Rn) came close in all of his games, but eventually lost 3-0 to a fast and hard-hitting opponent.

Stanley Tanguy’s (G) second seed match was the most entertaining, Stanley losing in the decider after several changes in momentum.

Natalie Chak (Wh) was then left to play out the deciding match, which she won 3-1 after a momentary blip in the second game.

The Girls’ V produced a spirited performance to achieved a commendable victory against a strong Wellington side. Natalie Chak (Wh) won all three games comfortably at first seed.

Second seed Emma Piggot’s (Rv) match was really competitive, Emma losing 3-1 after four very close games.

Third and fourth seeds Elisabeth and Jennifer Phizackerley (Cr) enjoyed exciting matches, both winning in the deciding match. Elisabeth showed particular determination, coming back from 10-6 down in the fifth game to secure the overall victory for Epsom.

Holly Darlaston (Rn) made an impressive debut performance for Epsom, growing in confidence through her match, only losing narrowly in each of the three games.
