Staff and Pupils Represent Club, County and Country

It has been a successful few weeks for Epsom staff and pupils, representing their club, county and country on the sporting stage.

  • Ella Nigrelli (Rv) represented the England U18 Rugby team, playing at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff against Wales U18s. Ella started at second row and scored a try in the final play of the game.

  • Delphine Ayitey-Hammond (Rv) toured Holland with Surbiton Hockey Club’s U14A team. This was topped off with her bringing home a silver medal in the U14 girls’ European Hockey Club Cup competition. Surbiton also defeated the Spanish champions, Junior FC, a strong Amsterdam HC side, though eventually losing in the final to HC ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

  • Liv Wilde (R) took part in the Euro Hockey Club Trophy and brought home a silver medal, losing out in a close fought final to the Spanish side Club Campo de Madrid. This is a massive achievement with this being a senior women’s competition. Liv played in every game against some of the best club sides in Europe.

  • Miss Sarah Cockayne took part in England over-35s training camps. This has resulted in her selection for the England over-35s squad to play in the European Championships in Rotterdam in July. This is set to be an exciting tournament for them with them following their World Cup win last summer.

  • Mr Dave Beckett took part in Euro Hockey League with Surbiton Hockey Club. They narrowly missed out on the last eight of the competition losing on a shootout to the Belgian side Waterloo Ducks.
